Training for
Teams & Communities

A lot of the people who need this training most are the hardest to reach — remote tribal communities, volunteer SAR teams, subsistence workers, guide services. Alaska Backcountry Medicine is built to be flexible enough to actually get to them.

Whether you're scheduling annual recertification for a guide operation or bringing WFA to a rural community for the first time, we'll work with your timeline and location.

For organizations interested in building long-term internal training capacity, ask about ABM's Education Center development program.

Guide Services Rafting, hunting, fishing, mountaineering, hiking — annual WFR recertification for your staff.
SAR Volunteers Flexible scheduling around your unit. WFR aligns well with ICS and SAR operational standards.
Tribal & Community Orgs Travel to remote and bush communities. WFA is a strong fit for community health workers and village safety officers.
Subsistence & Industrial Pipeline workers, miners, remote station crews — people working where evac times are measured in hours.
EMT Add-On Already an EMT? WFR bridges the gap to extended care and austere environment decision-making.
Schools & Programs Outdoor education programs, university outdoor clubs, youth expedition groups.

All courses are delivered through the Base Medical Education Center curriculum — a hybrid model combining online self-paced learning with hands-on practical days. 2-year certifications — recertify before your expiration date to keep your skills and credential current. Base Medical's model is designed to be accessible for organizations and communities without requiring students to travel to major urban centers.
